It’s Time to Take Up Space, Be Loud, and Damn Right Own It!
Ever felt like the world’s trying to stuff you into a neat little box, label you, and pop you onto a shelf labeled “Behave, Be Quiet, Be Perfect”? Well, here’s a newsflash for you: That sh*t will not fly anymore.
Life’s Not About Doing It All
First things first, let’s smash that dangerous notion that you’ve got to “do it all”. Hustle culture? F*ck that. This ridiculous notion that we have to juggle everything – work, home, fitness, social life, and about a million other things, while looking Insta-perfect?
Nobody has their sh*t together all the time. I certainly don’t. If I can make it through a day with only 1 or 2 failures then it’s a good day. And you know what? That’s okay. In fact, it’s more than okay—it’s real. I embrace my messy hair days (all days), the times you forget your kid’s PTA meeting (me most of the time), or when you can’t be bothered to whip up a gourmet meal and order pizza instead (had pizza twice this week already). I’ve learned the power of accountability when I fail to do it all and the relief of letting go of impossible standards. Life’s too short to be a constant performance.
Permission to Feel
Okay, let’s get something straight: you have every right to be angry, frustrated, or any other emotion on the spectrum. I have to tell myself this every day. I have been conditioned to be “nice”, to not raise my voice, to not show anger. Well, screw that. Feel your feelings. If you’re pissed off, be pissed off. If you’re ecstatic, jump up and down and shout it from the rooftops. Your emotions are valid, and they deserve space. My only point of practice to be emotionally regulated is to understand when I cross over from feeling angry to feeling sorry for myself.
Find Your Space
You don’t need anyone’s permission to take up space. To voice your opinion. To laugh loudly. To say no. To say yes. To be unabashedly, unapologetically, unequivocally in love with yourself. Yes, the audacity of not conforming to societal pressures. The audacity of existing as you.
That’s what so special and beautiful about stepping into Phoenix Flight. For me seeing individuals be individuals. Choosing themselves over and over again. The instructors have created a beautiful safe place to feel, and move, and breathe. The students have curated this space to love, feel, and believe in. It’s pure magic.
Unleash Your Phoenix
At Phoenix Flight, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to discover the self without boundaries. Our classes aren’t just about learning something new; they’re about finding a place where you can let your guard down, be a little silly or slutty, and just have fun. Because guess what? You deserve joy. Loads and loads of it.
**In Conclusion**
Hitting 40, losing my dear friend and co-owner, and I realized I have this one life to live. I’ve always known that, but losing Dakota, it felt like I finally got it. Life’s too damn short to keep shrinking yourself. It’s high time you realized your worth, spread your wings, and owned your space. Darling, you’re not just a flicker—you’re a blazing phoenix. And it’s time to fly. 🚀🔥
